We have one week left of our extended sabbatical break. It's flown by, but been so good.
Before we head back to the crazy busyness, here's a summary of a few things we've been up to lately.
Family time at the beach for a holiday, as well as our annual Pipi collecting mission with Nan & Pop...
We have a wee new addition to the Drake household. Meet Stimpy aka Baby. One day Symon and I headed out to buy cupcakes, and we came home with a kitten.
Such a sweet boy, a stray adopted from our local SPCA. He has the loveliest nature.
We've had birthday celebrations... Our youngest is 14! Once again she requested an Icecream Cake, so we modified this recipe.
Symon and I were finally able to get away for a few days by ourselves, and timed it to surprise our good friend Peter Morton at his book launch. So proud of this guy writing such a great book. You can order it here.
We also were able to have a great catch up with the family.
One of our kids has finally learned to crochet! Our daughter in law Monique has picked it up so fast and is already onto her second blanket. So proud!
Symon and I got away for a 1 day roadtrip a couple of weeks ago to hear a fav band from years ago reunite for one night... Drinkwater! So good, and so happy their old music has been uploaded online as well. Loved hearing Phil Joel sing some of his new music as well as classics from News Boys. Awesome guys!
I didn't take too many photos from the night, but i did get this one of the most delicious Mexican food we had at Baha Betty. Highly recommend!
Finally, I did something I've been meaning to do for a long time... Climb our local Mt Parihaka. I know, i know... Im a shocker! But we did it and it was so cool! Can't wait to do it again! Love our city so much.
Last week of leave, and looking forward to being back at our work/church. Have missed everyone heaps, but have loved this time out to rest, connect better with our family and feel restored in our souls.
