Sometimes, well, probably more like usually, things don't always go to plan in the household of PaisleyJade.
I don't ever want to give the impression in this space that our life is pure bliss - that we are one big happy family with smiling, obedient, neat and tidy kids. I hope that you don't think that there is always freshly baked goods overflowing out of the kitchen, and beautiful crochet blankets being worked on each night to send to the poor and needy (although that would be rather nice, wouldn't it?).
To be honest, there is an awful lot of mundane going on around here - sometimes I feel like most of my day is spent either preparing meals, organising showers and baths, folding washing, telling the kids to stop bickering amongst themselves, overseeing homework or yelling at the dog to stop eating the cat food (and also trying to help hubby find either a) his lost wallet b) his lost keys c) his missing cellphone or d) his glasses).
Seriously, life here can be full on and rather messy... but I realise that that is real life, and I love it (well, most of the time).
I also love taking photos of the great moments, the ones where the kids are smiling and happy, the dog is clean and has eaten her very own food for once, the ones where my baking has actually turned out great and the snapshots of our family moments together.
Those are the things I love to remember and be thankful for, in amongst the jumble of real life.
But you knew that already, right?
p.s. The day after writing this post, my dearest husband lost his wallet for the whole day! Thankfully we found it after stripping back the blankets on our bed after the dog spewed all over it...

Focussing on the positive is so much nicer anyway!!
ReplyDeleteI love this post and always love your the pictures you post of your sweet family. You are genuine and real and always glorifying God for your blessings...what a great combination!
ReplyDeleteI wrote a post a while back about the "rest of the story" behind all the "perfect" pictures (ha) that I've posted on my blog...it ain't always what it appears to be!

I agree, it's always so much nicer to focus on the positive and to capture those moments, in amongst reality! Cos that's the stuff we want to remember right? When our great-great-grandchildren (yikes!) are reading through our blogs from back in the 2000's which the family has made into books (haha) we want them to know that life back then was good! :)))
ReplyDeleteI love this post - your honest frankness -
ReplyDeleteI love the way your LOVING linky makes us look for the good focus on the good in times when it is a little harder to find . . .
Keep cooking Keep crocheting and YES WHY do dogs eat the cat food? And why do men seem to have marriage blindness LOL
xxx
sweet! and thats what we love about you, you focus on the positive!
ReplyDeleteFab post! Love the straight-up-ness. Love the piccy of Boo and the first pic of Miss 4. Hehe
ReplyDeleteabsolutely!
ReplyDeletelove and light
Super cool and honest post! Its inspiring how you always focus on the positive and good things in life - and I think its the mundane and not so positive stuff that make us appreciate the good stuff even more?
ReplyDeleteyou rock PJ :)
ReplyDeleteToo right!!
ReplyDeleteThe blogosphere would be a very boring read if we all wrote about our daily chores! It's a given that it happens - we just roll up our sleeves and get stuck in...
It's great to blog about the rays of sunshine in between - the bits we want to look back on and remember :)
P.S. I have a black bird that visits every day and eats the cat food! Our silly mog just sits there watching the bird eat her breakfast!
Haha. Boo - why do dogs always want cat food???
ReplyDeleteThere are some blogs that paint a picture perfect scene of life all the time - I like to see a mix of the good and the not-so-fab. It keeps it real!
Love your madhouse!
What shines through the most in your blog is how much you love your family. And no-one in their right mind would think that any family has it all together (how boring would THAT be???)
ReplyDeleteI must admit though, a few photos fewer of delicious torturous baking would help me in my quest to lose weight....HA!
What can I say PaisleyJade, you are an inspiration to many, there are always negatives among the positives, thankfully the positives outway the negatives, it's what's called living in the real world. Love the pics, Boos a darling, he woofed at me this morning He he!!
ReplyDeleteIt is a great way to live to focus on the positives 99% of the time (I would say 100% but that is pushing it!)
ReplyDeleteI always love the photos of your gorgeous family.
xx
It's great to just be normal!
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful post, way to keep it real! It sounds like our days are very similar (except for the dog thing, no dog here).. Sometimes we have our good days and sometimes (or alot of times) we have bad days.. so long as there are more good then bad then it's all good..
ReplyDeleteFound you at life made lovely link up :)
Sounds a bit like my house most of the time. I love how we are suposed to know exactly where things have been left. Funny thing is as I know he will ask I seem to automatically make a mental note without thinking about it and find myself realing off in quite a lot of detail sometimes exactly where said object is. :o)

ReplyDeleteLove the reality check - it's always nice to know that behind all the amazing creations, wonderful baking and happy family pics there's a lot of REAL life going on.
ReplyDeleteAs much as blogging is great because you do get to focus on the positives and ignore the negatives, sometimes we (the reader) need to know that there's real life going on behind the scenes in others lives so we don't think that we're the only ones who don't have it all together!!!
xxMeg
Its so easy to forget that the owners of other blogs have children who bicker, husbands who rely on them to find their stuff (grr!) and washing to fold. It's nice to be reminded not to strive for something that isn't real anyway... not that your happy, perfect snapshots aren't real, just that you have the real life stuff going on too... refreshing. Like that dose of reality! :)

Ha ha ha - I seriously LOL'd when I read the part about yelling at the dog to stop eating the cats food... that's what I spend an abnormally large part of the day doing too!
