I have an "All things Mario" obsessed son who has been begging and begging me to make him a Pixelated 1up Mushroom blanket for his bed (inspired by this and this) for his upcoming birthday. Now, when a son asks you to crochet him something, you jump at the chance (because frankly, not many boys I know are into crochet rugs on their beds).
I've been putting off starting it for ages, thinking I'd finished some of my other unfinished projects first (like this), but then suddenly I realised that I needed to crochet well over 200 granny squares, then join them all together!
So far I've done 87... only 100+ to go!

ReplyDeleteMaybe see ya later bob the builder ;)
How sweet that he wanted a blanket made by his Mom!
ReplyDeleteI would be all over that project asap as well!!
Cant wait to see it!!
Yah, this is why I just don't do time consuming things like this - and also why I use HUGE crochet hooks :P
ReplyDeleteYou could say that I have "blanket ban" on blankets ;)
Wow, go mum! I'm glad you added your inspirations because I was wondering what the heck a pixelated 1up mushroom blanket is, and what it must look in crochet!...actually very cool! Sounds like you're well on the way :) One day I hope to repick up my crochet hook. I'm feeling inspired by your fellow left-handed skills!
ReplyDeleteToo cute! My son has been asking for what I can crochet him too. Maybe I should show him this?
ReplyDeleteWell done - that's going to look great! Love the boy request for crochet too. Dont get too disheartened by the amount of squares - I am currently doing a big granny rug and have made 90 out of the 180 I need! I just find myself doing bits here and there whenever i have a spare 5 minutes and they all start adding up.
ReplyDeleteGood luck.
Holey Moley - you are such a hard working mum!
ReplyDeleteNo idea where you get the energy or inspiration from, but because of that (amongst other things) you are an inspiration!
Cant wait to see the finished project and updates along the way!

ReplyDeleteYou're putting the rest of us to shame woman!
Much love xxx
My 12 year old has asked me to crochet something for him too but granny squares are beyond me for some reason. I even tried a dishcloth in the rounds last nite and it drove me bonkers. Your son's blanket is gonna be fantastic. For now, I have a red and white afghan on my son's bed that belonged to my Mammaw who has been gone since 1988. Have a fabulous day. Tammy
