Today I observed someone being spoilt - spoilt in a good way... and boy did I love it.
As I sat and watched this beautiful pregnant lady opening gifts at her baby shower I was struck at how special the moment was.
This lady has not long been in our country - she is new here to our land with no extended family or old friends. She is about to have her third child, and has never had a baby shower or been treated in such a special way.
I watched as she opened gifts surrounded by new friends and even some people who have never met her before, yet wanted to welcome her into our 'family'... her eyes filled with tears as she shared in her broken English how she has never felt so special and loved, especially from people she has never met.
It moved me.
It made me wonder how many other people are out there in my life who have never experienced being treated 'special'... people who need to feel spoilt.
I think there must be quite a few people out there who need a bit of spoiling... I might just have to find some.

ReplyDeleteTruly special.. May god bless this woman more and more xxx
ReplyDeleteYou're right Kristy. I bet there's a bunch of women that could do with being spoilt. A girl in our church recently had her 2nd child and has been amazed at how the meals just keep on coming. She has not long returned from living in London where there was very little support when she had her first baby. Amazing what we take for granted eh? Even the fact that we know a bunch of people who will all club together to "spoil" someone they hardly know. Wow. That's pretty special.
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteI love coming here to your space.
I love this post and think you are so right-on!! And such an inspiring aspect you brought up to me..I can name 10 women in my life, that work so hard and get so little in return.
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs to you *~***
bless you and that lady's new friends
ReplyDeleteit will help her to settle into her life here in New Zealand
and bless you for wanting to find those people and love them
This reminds me of a baby shower for a lady who had just adopted a beautiful baby girl from China!! People are so kind, at least most of them are.
ReplyDeletemmm I love this...
ReplyDeletehope you find someone
i am sure you will!
don't forget to tell us about it if you do!
Love this! So true!
ReplyDeleteI think that we should be on the "look-out" for people who need spoiling. It takes our eyes of ourselves and moves them onto others - never a bad thing. :)
ReplyDeleteI think we all need to be spoiled more! But you are right there certainly are people out there who never get spoiled. In my world they are usually the grumpy ones that are hard to love (not always though). You've encouraged me Kristy. Might go make some treats for that grumpy work colleague of mine and soften her heart!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of spoiling others more :) What an awesome thing to do!
ReplyDeletelovin' it - I'd certainly help with the spoiling :) I reckon we do need to work on an extreme makeovers type thingy... Syms is onto something
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post. How lovely for you to be able to make someone feel so amazing. We have so much power in our actions and words, but sometimes in gets forgotten in busy times. Thankyou for reminding me how good it feels to make someone else feel good.
