Yep - I have my very own private Master Chef living with me. Move over Julie Goodwin!
This morning I awoke to French Toast in bed, with fresh homemade fruit salad on the side and a piping hot coffee (check out my cute cow milk jug!). A slightly more enticing treat than the Master 10 version of breakfast in bed (although I do appreciate your surprises Master 10!).

Hubby then snuck off to do something very important and extremely secret in the kitchen... but after hearing him print something off the computer and then ask me where just about every baking item in the pantry was, I soon guessed what he was up to... he was baking me a birthday cake (and even referring to my blog for the recipe!!!).
You may think that this is no big deal... but I must let you in on a little secret... my Master Chef man has never ever made me a birthday cake in our whole 13 years of marriage - so this was something rather special... actually, I don't even know if he has even made a cake before.
He did really well and even managed to keep the kitchen relatively clean as he went. I warned him about the dangers of icing a hot cake, and he did listen to my wise advise and keep the cake in the fridge until it had cooled (we were in a rush)!
Once the cake was ready to go we were off in the car to have a beautiful birthday lunch at my parents (talk about the pre-Christmas stomach stretch!). We were all rather amused to find that my mum had also made me a birthday cake (a beautiful carrot cake with cream cheese icing) and so we decided to have a 'Master Chef' style judging panel... where of course they both tied!
What a beautiful day - a big thank you to all my awesome family and friends near and far for your lovely birthday messages, cards and gifts. I feel super spoilt!
And thank you to my wonderful husband for doing all the dishes, cooking, cleaning and parenting chores today so that I could put my feet up and relax.
Thank you God for life!
