We live in a world full of beauty... true beauty. I just need to look outside of my window to see God's amazing creation all around me.
Not to forget the beautful things people create, from music to art, architecture and cooking... it's everywhere.
Then there is the beauty in people, from the gorgous, plump new born to the beautiful wrinkled face of a dear elderly person.
Beauty is everywhere if you take the time to look.
But there is another form of beauty that is disturbing... and it is all around us without us even realizing...
My husband showed me this clip last year. Have a watch and let me know what you think.

I saw this a while back too - it's a lie that is being fed to women of all ages really.
ReplyDeleteIt is disturbing.
amazing. But I can honestly say that even though I have many "flaws" or things I'm not happy with about my body the times I've been changed or "enhanced" in a pic by using photoshop etc makes me feel totally violated! I actually hate it.
ReplyDeleteSo imagine what this is doing even to those models' self esteem?
Have you seen any of the other ones on the Dove website? They're just as good as that one. http://www.dove.ca/en/#/features/videos/video_gallery.aspx[cp-documentid=9125381]/
ReplyDeleteIm glad you posted this.
ReplyDeleteI have seen this one as well, quite disurbing acually...when will we get it through our heads that the magazine pics, movie stars all of that is fantasy..so so far from reality. I see that a lot in my business, women bringing in pictures wanting to look like the girl in the magazine. I have learned to gently but directly show them the reality of the hair in the photo...like the truth that she had someone work on her for hours to get her looking like that!!!!
ReplyDeletethanks for the reminder!
Thank you for posting this. So so true.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so when I said "any" of the other ones, I didn't mean "Soap vs. Dove"!!
ReplyDeleteIt would be "Onslaught" that is undoubtedly the scariest and most like "Evolution".
Wow, that really is disturbing. All the photoshopping was amazing. I'm glad you posted about this. Hopefully young girls will see it and realize that most of what they see in the magazines and on tv is false advertising.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments... I love hearing from you!!!
